  • Don White Park (near volleyball courts)

Make something amazing with Community Guild, Inc.’s STE(A)M Truck at Don White Park. Community Guilds, Inc. is a Georgia non-profit committed to closing the opportunity gap in public education by providing transformational maker space experiences. Through high-interest, hands-on, collaborative work, they engage students to create a lasting interest and foundation in STE(A)M (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) content and practices. The STE(A)M Truck, is a mobile makerspace that brings the tools, curriculum, and local experts directly to youth.  Through this process, they teach youth the habits of mind critical to success: grit and perseverance, creativity and innovation, and teamwork and collaboration. The truck will be onsite from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and families are encouraged to drop-in and participate at any time. We'll have tours of the Southeast's first mobile makerspaces: The STE(A)M Truck, STE(A)M Box and STE(A)M Trailer. Hands-on activities and demonstrations will include:

  • Art spinners and art bots - make your own art creation from deconstructed electronics
  • Seed bombs - make your own hand held garden with clay
  • Rocket-propelled paint project -  together we'll take turns blasting paintballs from a rocket launcher and make our own community masterpiece
